Ginger Lemon Kombucha

Hi from Cape Cod! I've been here all week with the Chicory-sters as we kayak, swim, grill steaks, and drink just enough beers after dinner. The amount that makes a wholesome game of charades ever so slightly more fun, but never weird. They're a good group.

Chicken Yakitori

Today was a magical day that I spent with my dear friends, the Sameshima family! We (Ok, everyone except me because despite the driver's license that burns a hole in my wallet begging to be used for it's one true calling, I don't drive... well.) drove down to Maryland to eat some deeeeelish, fresh blue crabs. And while I grew up crackin' lobsters and cooking clams from the Long Island Sound, this was my first go at breaking open crabs with my bare hands and a wooden mallet.

Mexican Tomatillo Scrambled Eggs

I bought overalls!!!!! They're black and have a lil flare at the bottom. I thought the problem would be figuring out which shoes to wear, but you know what? It's the shirt. It can't be too long cause then it gets all scrunched. It can't be a crew neck cause then I look like a kindergartener. Do you guys wear overalls? What do you do?

Vanilla + Bourbon + Mint Frozen Custard

Happy Monday from a delightfully thunder-stormy New York. I know I've complained before about the New York summers (because they're miserable), but once you get to the dog days and huge thunderstorms end almost every day... that I like. It reminds me of driving home from the beach or day camp, my hair still wet from swimming, and then the sky turning dark and pouring down rain. I'd run inside, trying to shield myself with my already wet towel, and then I'd dry off and curl up and watch cooking shows on PBS while the rain tick-tacked on the air conditioner. The best!

Braised Short Ribs with Creamy Polenta

I'm back, baby! Unfortunately I had to take a break from blogging for the past few weeks because of some family happenings. We lost my beloved grandfather a couple weeks ago; he was 84-years-old. As sad as it was to lose him, those events always have a weird bright side. He's at peace after a tough sickness, plus I got to reconnect with lots of family and learn things about my grandfather I hadn't known before.

Cheesy Stuffed Meatballs

I rolled back into NYC at around 6AM this morning after a few days in Salt Lake City for the Everything Food Conference. It was a super fun time where I got to talk blogging, try out new coffee shops, sing karaoke with friends (remember this song!?!?! I hadn't, but I'm so happy I've been reminded.), learn about SLC's fascinating liquor laws ~~from the inside~~, and watched the entire city of Salt Lake lose power from the window of our Airbnb meaning Yuni and I needed to finish our game of Battleship by candlelight. He kicked my butt.

Eggplant Parmesan with Hard-Boiled Eggs

I returned late last night from a loverly trip to Nashville. I spent lots of fun time with my mamma, uncle, aunt, and beloved cousins. Aside from the family mumbo jumbo, though, I also ate deeeelicious things like HOT CHICKEN and biscuits and, kind of surprisingly, a really tasty kimchi salad? More on that at a later date.

15 Best Rainy Day Recipes

Happy April! In honor of the idea that April showers bring May flowers, I asked some of my favorite food bloggers to share their best rainy day recipes. From their ultimate comfort foods to simple meals you can put together with pantry items, these recipes will keep you well-fed and cozy as it pours outside the window. That is... until you have to walk the dogs. ;) Enjoy!

Spam Musubi

What a marvelous weekend! I had guests in and out the whole time, which I love (especially when they eat all of the carrot tahini muffins I bake for them). Danny's home now. I bought some awesome new sheets and a new vacuum. I learned how to spell "vacuum"--one c, two u's. Plus I did lots of fun activities and didn't hate them! I'm that flavor of human who contemplates cancelling all plans at the last minute because the thought of leaving my home fills me with dread on some days. Particularly when the 7 train completely BLOWS like it did this week.
